Yoga Background As a kid growing up, I was a true enthusiast for many different forms of physical activities like skiing, dancing, roller skating (do people still use that word!) volleyball and freestyle frisbee. When it came time to getting a "real" job I realized I couldn't quite survive as a professional Frisbee player so the natural merging into the fitness world was perfect. Having lived in Tokyo where I taught my first aerobics class in Japenglish (!) I knew I was on a fun path.

Following the ebbs and flows in the Fitness world I have taught everything that has come our way. Now having tapered off the all too wild jumping, I've narrowed my path from different types of classes to: most importantly Yoga as well as Yoga based stability Ball, Trance Yoga Flow, Yoga with kids, athletes, elders and special needs people. I love working w/ my students to help them discover their own core strength. To me "core" to me has 2 components: the HEART and the Pelvis. From these 2 vital, powerful, FULL of LIFE places we move. I recently discovered that the root of the word core means heart such as corazon in Spanish, Italian cuore and French coeur. How sweet is that..

My deep conviction and love for yoga as well as my 31-year meditation practice has served me in such a blessed way. My mother had great insight to suggest that my brother, my boyfriend & my 14 year old self learn TM. I deeply thank my momma for her intuitive sense to keep any 14 year old on the "right path"!!!

Fitness enthusiast and professional of the years past, I thought Yoga would be the perfect gift in preparation of the birth of my 1st child. It is so true that as my Yoga has unfolded, it has unveiled many blossoms of the lotus. My 1st labor, with Petra my now teenager, was a full 30 hours, Eris my 2nd baby girl was only 3 hours! From the time I truly dedicated myself to Yoga (1990) to my 2nd child's birth (1996) the path kept opening my practice, my body, mind and spirit to my inner divinity. Six weeks after my daughter Eris was born I met John Friend at a weekend workshop at Richard Freeman's studio. Loving his work and the path he followed I knew he was my teacher. Having Richard in my own neighborhood is about as good as it can get, yet John's upbeat, articulate, graceful, funny self spoke to me like no other teacher had. Leaving behind me the Iyengar path & pursuing John & Richard's styles of teaching I knew I was Home! I knew I left Santa Barbara for some good reason!

I am fully dedicated with great enthusiasm to Anusara Yoga since it jives so beautifully with every facet of my life including the fitness I teach. I continue to study with John, visit Richard's studio, and others wherever I am in the world to continue to welcome ALL Yoga into my journey of discovering myself. The beauty of Yoga is it is my path of life and it involves every second of my being ALIVE! With so much gratitude I thank John, Gurumayi, Richard and all other teachers including my students who have taught me many pearls of wisdom.
